About IATEFL YLT SIG
IATEFL YLT SIG stands for International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language Young Learns and Teens Special Interest Group. IATEFL Young Learners (Children and Teenagers) Special Interest Group (YLSIG) consists of about 400 English Language Teaching professionals around the world who work with learners aged from 3 to 17. The Young Learners (Children and Teenagers) SIG aims to support its members by providing information on recent developments in English Language education for children and teenagers and by organising networking opportunities for its members.

Shelly Terrell on IATEFL YLT SIG
She is the host of American TESOL’s Friday Webinars and shares at TeacherRebootCamp.com and Twitter (@ShellTerrell). She’s the author of Learning To Go, Byte-Sized Potential, and The 30 Goals Challenge for Teachers. Recently, she was named Woman of the Year 2014 by the National Association of Professional Women and awarded a Bammy Award as the co-founder of #Edchat.
According to Shelly, all our students can identify with a superhero. Learning about superheroes not only motivates kids to learn English, but also empowers kids. In this session, discover activities related to superheroes that enhance students reading and writing skills. You will also learn about various web tools and apps that students can use to create superhero stories or transform themselves into superheroes.
YLT Webinars : The timeline of an e-connected story
Technical and Pedagogical Advisor at the National Institute for Educational Technologies and TeacherTraining (INTEF) in the Spanish Ministry of Education. Master’s Degree Teacher at University Rey Juan Carlos (URJC) in Madrid. Over the last 30 years, she has been an ESL teacher at various levels, private centres and state-run Schools of Languages, she coordinated the MALTEDEducational Project for INTEF, and the online ‘Editing Web Pages with Dreamweaver’ course at MentorVirtual Classroom. She has broadcasted educational series of podcasts for the state-run Network of Best Educational IT Practices as well as for EducaconTIC, managed the National Blog on IT and Foreign Languages for INTEF, contributed to the Spanish state-run WikiDidácTICa, Agrega (educational open source resource bank by the Spanish Ministry of Education), and Internet en el Aula, where she was in charge of hosting weekly educational webinars at Wiziq.
She currently writes her Stop and Learn English blog. From time to time she contributes to the MOOC Observatory for UniMOOC, Cero en Conducta (Professional Social Network on Media Literacy and Audiovisual Language) and The Observatory for Technological and Educational Innovation (ODITE).
